Bard Academy and Bard College at Simon's Rock, located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, seeks an experienced and knowledgeable financial professional to support the Business Office of the College.
The Financial Controller will work with the Business Office at the College to oversee the College's financial accounting systems. The primary tasks include:
- Records deposits into accounting system
- Reconciles checking accounts monthly
- Reviews accounts payable postings for accuracy
- Reconciles the due to/from account with Bard College
- Assists in preparation for, and participates in, annual financial audit and other reporting as assigned
- Tracks restricted fund balances and expenditures
- Tracks grant balances and expenditures
- Manages the preparation and distribution of annual 1098-T and 1099 forms
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field of study; CPA designation preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (including Excel) and Google Workspace
- Demonstrated experience in business function management
- Demonstrated knowledge of general accounting procedures
- Experience in Banner by Ellucian financial applications preferred
- Approachable, collaborative, service-oriented interpersonal manner
- Distinct record of and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Proven background in attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills and creative initiative
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to communicate effectively and handle situations tactfully and courteously with a diverse audience
This position will either be a part-time, hourly position at Bard College at Simon's Rock, or can be an independent contractor arrangement with hours billed.
