Job Description:

Fitchburg State University is seeking trainers for days, weekends and evening commitments. Certified athletic trainers seeking part time flexible schedules are encouraged to apply. Candidates should possess enthusiasm, team spirit and flexibility to support our student athletes. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Go Falcons!

The part-time contractor athletic trainer is responsible for the recognition and diagnosis of athletic related injuries and illnesses, the treatment of these conditions, rehabilitation, documentation and communication with the athletic trainers regarding these conditions. 

  • Serve as the administrator of the athletic training facilities when other athletic trainers are not present.
  • Provide pre-event and post-event athletic training services to student-athletes.
  • Provide on-site coverage for practices and games whenever possible.
  • Provide emergency first aid to injured athletes.
  • Communicate regularly with the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Trainer and provide updates regarding injuries and other services provided.
  • Provide athletic training coverage of practices and games.
  • Assume responsibility for determining the ability of an athlete to safely participate in practice and games.
  • Provide rehabilitation services following guidelines set up by the Head Athletic Trainer or Athletic Trainer.

  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Current NATA certification and Massachusetts athletic training license required.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI check); a background check satisfactory to the university and must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19 or have a documented and approved exemption.

    Priority Review: Review will begin immediately and the position will remain open until we have a successful pool of candidates.
