Position Summary:
 
The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI’s brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. UCI Transportation and Distribution Services oversees all transportation planning, parking, and mail services at the University of California, Irvine. UCI Transportation has an environmental commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from all vehicles traveling on and around the UCI campus. Under the direct supervision of the Guest and Events manager, the parking representative will work in both indoor and outdoor environments assisting the campus community and visitors with navigating a complex parking system consisting of approximately 20,000 parking stalls, 64 surface lots, and five parking structures. The incumbent will provide consistent support of the division field staff with deployment and management of all event equipment and resources. The parking representative will serve as the primary trainer for student staff in kiosk permit sales and customer service and will support the division with kiosk collection and reconciliation for event permit sales. The incumbent is responsible for coordination of quarterly stall and permit utilization studies.

Required:
 
  • The incumbent must have a valid California driver license.
  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population in a high-volume, customer-focused work environment. 
  • Effective conflict resolution skills with the ability to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference, and hostility. 
  • Able to interpret and explain complex policies and regulations to faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Skill to establish and maintain good working relationships, and to relate diplomatically within a large, diverse organization. 
  • Experience working in a team environment. Able to work independently and follow-through on assignments with general direction. Able to adapt to rapid and frequent changes in operation practices and working environment. 
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical skills to maintain control monies received for payment of permits, citations, and events. 
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and MS Office applications. 
  • Able to work outdoors, year-round, and in all weather conditions. .
  • Able to work a rotating schedule that will include evenings and weekends. Able to work around moving vehicles on roadways, parking lots, and surface lots. Able to wear department-issued uniform.
     

Preferred:
 
  • A valid California Class B driver license.
  • Previous experience in the parking and transportation industry and knowledge of related Federal, State and local codes and regulations. 
  • Knowledge of UC/UCI policies and procedures. Familiarity with the UCI campus and campus parking Knowledge of Parking’s online systems such as EPICS, Antpark, Citation Management and When to Work.
     

Special Conditions Required:
 
  • Final candidate is subject to background check and the California DMV Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program Notification. 
  • May be subject to random drug testing. 
  • The incumbent must be able to work outdoors, year-round, and in all weather conditions. 
  • The incumbent must be able to work a rotating schedule that will include evenings and weekends.
