Outreach Representative

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Outreach Representative at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Under the supervision of a Principal Investigator, the position will provide outreach support to community projects
within a School, College or Division.

Point of contact for community-based project studies. Recruit project participants via community
outreach. Communicate directly with potential participants and ensure they fully understand the
criteria, exclusions and confidentiality of the project. Use questionnaires (and electronic devices)
to screen potential participants for qualifiers and barriers for project participation. Consult with
the Principal Investigator regarding participant selection and enrollment, as required. Obtain
written informed consent. Maintain communications with participants throughout the study.
Send participation reminders and updates. Track and monitor related data. Notify Principal
Investigator of any enrollment and/or participant project issues.

Compile and provide data to Principal Investigator. Develop and maintain data collection
spreadsheets and other project related documents as needed. Enter and maintain databases,
and check the validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality control
requirements and study relevance. Prepare data and study reports based on compiled data

Establish a network of collaborations with various community establishments for assistance in
obtaining recruitment of project participants and to provide a resource for participants who may
need service referrals.

Provide office support as needed. Respond to requests and questions from participants,
institutions, government agencies, and funding agencies. Complete related documents and
forms. Schedule and participate in meetings. Participate in special projects and assignments.

Assist in developing recruitment advertisements to attract project participants from local
organizations including the use of social media. Develop related materials and resources.
Create print materials including study brochures, study logo, online/paper flyers etc., as
necessary. Create and/or update study website.

Assist Principal Investigator with distributing educational and study resources to project
participants.

Qualifications:

Education High school completion (or GED)
Candidates with equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience Entry level. 0 2 years of experience.
Prior related experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to collaborate and work as a team member, as well as to work independently. Effective oral and written
communication skills. Detail oriented, with strong organizational skills. Working knowledge of social media. Ability
to interact with participants and discuss sensitive topics while maintaining confidentiality. Good time
management skills, as time may be split across multiple projects. Ability to work in a community, clinic and lab
settings. Must be skilled in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and research support software.
