SHIFT:  Part-time  between - Monday through Friday 7:30AM to 5:30PM

DEPARTMENT: Ophthalmology

SALARY: $17.92/HR

Our Ophthalmology clinics provide a wide spectrum of specialized eye services. We have 3 clinics located within Columbia! Ophthalmology offers several subspecialties including retina, glaucoma, and cornea.  Our technicians assist with procedures, provide hands-on patient care, and support our physicians in the treatment of both acute and chronic conditions. BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Assists ophthalmologists and optometrists in providing eye care to patients. Demonstrates ability to meet all technical skill competencies of the position. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Conduct preliminary patient interviews and record relevant data such as chief complaint, health history, medications, and allergies for the physician's review. Measure vitals when necessary. 
Prepare patient and exam rooms for all procedures and provide assistance to physicians for procedures. 
Clean and restock exam rooms including restock of supplies, equipment and medications. Review expiration dates of supplies and medication and take appropriate action. 
Assist physicians as required and perform all other duties as assigned. 
Conduct a variety of eye examinations and testing as directed by physician. 
May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Functional supervision and training are received from physicians, designated technical staff and clinic supervisor.

None

 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. 
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

One (1) year of health related or patient care experience. 
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
