Position Summary

The University of New Mexico’s Project ECHO has a great opportunity for an Operations Specialist to join our Peer Education Project Team!

The Operations Specialist will be working with our New Mexico Peer Education Project (NMPEP). Project ECHO has continued expanding the scope of its civics and justice involved programs.

The NMPEP Team trains incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people to become peer educators with the goal of educating the community on key health issues, increasing general health literacy, reducing risky behaviors, and increasing job readiness upon release.

As a successful Operations Specialist you will:

·         Assist with organizing and coordinating face-to-face and/or virtual training of new peer educators and previously trained peer educators for the NMPEP, including but not limited to: ensuring all needed supplies, documents, curriculum, snacks, hotel reservations, rental car reservations are in place prior to trainings.

·         Participate in the face-to-face and/or virtual trainings of new peer educators and previously trained peer educators for NMPEP, including: 40-Hour Trainings, reentry trainings and follow-up training sessions as needed.

·         Oversee the development of Smartsheet Dashboards and reports based on program needs and will report data to Program Specialist and Program Manager as requested.

·         Work with the Program Specialist to ensure data tracking systems are working and updated regularly and provide regular reports to Senior Manager.

·         Prepare and coordinate the bi-monthly NMPEP ECHO sessions by setting up teleconference connections, preparing agendas, finding guest presenters, setting up recruitment interviews, sending invitations to all prison site liaisons and community peer educators to ensure attendance to ECHO sessions.

·         Maintain NMPEP web page for internal/external collaborators to monitor short and long-term goals and progress of programs.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Personal or professional experience with the justice system.

Experience with data tracking.

Knowledge of reentry services and supports.

Ability to travel to various sites in NM and work in a prison environment.
