JOB SUMMARY

The Billing and Operations Specialist (Administrative Program Support 2) will coordinate the implementation and coordination of UConn Early College Experience (UConn ECE) Student billing, waivers, and billing-related inquiries and projects. The position will facilitate the processing of Faculty Coordinator dual employment as well as Pre-College Summer (PCS) dual employment. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements time-sensitive and detailed billing procedures for approximately 17,000 UConn ECE students.
  • Supports technical billing processes, which may include, processing Free & Reduced Lunch Student waivers, waiving students in schools where 75% or more of the student body is on Free & Reduced Lunch; Title 1 Priority schools and managing third-party payee schools.
  • Recalculates bills on schedule to ensure student accounts are accurate and sends billing reminders when needed.
  • Serves as the primary interface and collaborates with the Bursar's Office to respond to student billing inquiries.
  • Compiles data and prepares statistical reports used to monitor or assess department activities, programs, and services or project future needs.
  • Facilitates the annual processing of UConn ECE and PCS dual employment and special payroll authorizations.
  • Oversees the processing of UConn ECE speaker honorariums, ECE awarded scholarships, and ECE classroom enhancement grants.
  • Manages the purchasing of support materials for 50+ professional development workshops and Summer Institutes annually.
  • Supports the billing of PCS students and third-party payee organizations.
  • Stays abreast of changes to University policies and procedures and provides education and outreach regarding those policies.
  • Assists in the maintenance of and maintains complex files and records, preparing reports and work as needed.
  • Manages the purchasing for the OECP office.
  • Perform multi-step processing, troubleshooting, and data reconciliation.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in an academic field.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Experience with enterprise billing software, such as PeopleSoft.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience responding to a high volume of parent and student billing inquiries.
  • Ability to respect diversity and work collaboratively with individuals of diverse cultural, social, and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to work independently to analyze available information, draw conclusions and understandings, and present such conclusions effectively to senior management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two to three years of experience managing parent and student inquiries over the phone, email, and live chat.
  • Basic accounting principals.
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Advanced skills in Excel.
