Job Description:

The position of Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing fall and spring semester transfer student application/operations/transfer credit evaluation process at the University at Albany. The individual serves as the Undergraduate Admissions Office lead in managing transfer student application processing. This position is also responsible for authorizing certification for students receiving the Excelsior Scholarship. Additional responsibilities include supervising graduate assistants and serving as a liaison to the Nursing completion program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation of transfer credit degree audits to assure timely notification of newly admitted transfer students to enable them to determine potential time to degree completion.
  • Provide transfer students tele-counseling explaining credential requirements and successfully leading them to application completion.
  • Review and evaluate transfer credit degree audits to be provided to admitted transfer students.
  • Deploy technology systems, including Slate CRM, Peoplesoft, DARS, Transferology, and UACH.CUC and Noli Document Imaging: make recommendations for enhanced efficiencies and possible new solutions to enhance service and accuracy.
  • Communicate incoming student's transfer audits with campus partners (e.g., Undergraduate Academic Advisement and the Office of Financial Aid).
  • Counsel newly admitted transfer students seeking further understanding of transfer degree audits concerning time to degree completion and implications affecting financial aid eligibility.
  • Consult with Advisement Services Center, academic departments within schools and colleges, the Office of Undergraduate Education, and Registrar in the determination of course equivalents and to serve as a resource for these campus partners concerning newly admitted transfers.
  • Recruit, interview hire, train, and supervise Graduate Assistants and Interns. Develop and maintain job descriptions and conduct performance reviews.
  • Serve as liaison to the Nursing completion program.
  • Determine prospective nursing students' program eligibility: examine and verify equivalency of specific prerequisite courses taken at specific approved institutions, assess course credit, vet assuring that appropriate associate degrees have been completed or are in progress.
  • Evaluate and award course credit evaluations related to nursing in compliance with School of Public Health and Undergraduate Dean's Office requirements.
  • Identify and track new intended BSN students for proof of current, unencumbered license as registered professional nurses in New York State by the completion of the first semester at UAlbany.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • 1-3 years of experience in admissions, customer service, advising, counseling, or related field
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Strong technology skills and experience with Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, and customer relationship management (CRM) software, such as Slate
  • Transfer credit evaluation and experience working with Excelsior
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • High level of initiative and motivation
