Job Summary
This position will participate in bone studies in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Internal Medicine. Responsibilities include but are not limited to processing of research samples; performing experiments in a timely manner; maintenance of lab equipment; ensuring proper data entry; analysis of experiments; coordinating with others on experimental procedures and processes; and histology, immunochemistry, FTIR, and other bone quality techniques such as micro and nanoindentation. The Research Analyst will also maintain IRB approval, collect and maintain records/data for study, maintain correspondence with other study personnel, attend weekly research meetings to discuss findings, coordinate scheduling procedures with patients, and receive biopsy and blood samples for research. Excellent communication skills are needed along with excellent ability to communicate with other bone lab personnel. Regulatory documentation responsibilities include preparation of annual reports, CAP and CLIA compliance documentation and regulatory documentation for clinical staff and IRB review and analysis including management of IRB protocol documentation. Work with all PIs and research teams across projects and cores to develop and implement the processes and protocols for each relevant research project; collaborate with researchers to develop protocols for projects and data management; schedule and document action steps from project meetings and communicate closely with PI, and the Research Director.
Protocol data management responsibilities include preparation and presentation of specific outcomes data reporting for specific protocols including severe adverse events, toxicities, protocol deviations, and other data.
In addition, this candidate is responsible for collecting and presenting data from various databases. The person in this position will help to carry out the goals of nephrology research. This person will perform experiments using genetic and molecular biology techniques, will assist with scientific project development and write scientific papers. Experience with mouse colonies and small animal surgeries is required. This position will manage the overall operation of federally funded research. This includes developing operation manuals and work plans consistent with study objectives; coordinating and overseeing daily operations of study, creating project timelines and goals; maintaining organizational databases for research files and metrics for process and outcome evaluation; overseeing regulatory application and continuation reviews; preparing reports to the sponsor and stakeholders; planning, coordination and supervision of research team and stakeholder meetings; serving as a liaison to advisory council members and other stakeholders; preparing manuscripts and presentations of study findings.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Previous experience in a basic research laboratory required.

Preferred Education/Experience
The ideal candidate will have writing skills for laboratory documentation and scientific publications, and basic statistical analyses. PhD preferred.
