UC San Diego Health’s Perioperative Services is growing and we invite you to join our team and work for San Diego’s only academic medical center. This position is involve in the coordination of the materials management system throughout the medical center or health system, with regards to procurement, processing and distribution of materials and services. Ensures the efficient and cost effective acquisition of equipment and supplies throughout the medical center or health system.

Experienced professional who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field; independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems / issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. Applies skills and experience as a seasoned materials management professional to independently order supplies, track inventory records, store inventory and distribute supplies.

The OR Buyer is responsible for ordering specialty equipment and supplies (such as lasers) for OR cases. They are also responsible for receiving human tissue/biologic products and ensuring that the receipt and tracking is documented for all phases of storage. The OR Buyers also assist with RASMAS (the recall system for recalls on products, equipment, and instruments). They help review charge sheets for ATF POs and issue the PO. They work with charge capture, OR nursing, and our physicians to assist in consolidating product used in the OR. The Buyers assist with inventory stock and outdates, as needed. This position will be assisting with the Perioperative and Procedural Services Value Analysis Committee.

  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.
  • Experience and proven success with thorough knowledge in materials management policies, regulatory requirements, and safety regulations.
  • New Product Committee experience.
  • Strong experience with healthcare procurement/purchasing.
  • Working knowledge of Premier Connect, EPIC, RASMAS, and Tissue Tracking methods.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $67,200 - $119,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.18 - $57.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
