Job Title:  Adjunct Opera Coach/Chorus Master/Rehearsal Conductor

Job Classification:  Adjunct Faculty-Teaching

Must reside in the State of Utah to be eligible for employment consideration.  Must be willing to teach the course(s) in person, on campus.

Required Degree: Master's Degree in Music Performance, Collaborative Piano, or Conducting required.

Doctoral Degree in Music Performance, Collaborative Piano, or Conducting preferred.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:   

  • 2 years' experience as vocal coach and/or conductor required
  • General knowledge of French, German, Italian, and English singing diction required
  • General knowledge of operatic repertoire preferred

Duties/Expectations

  • Rehearsals daily from 3:00pm - 6:00pm except Wednesdays which are 3:00pm - 5:00pm.
  • Evening rehearsals as needed
  • Coach students to help them learn assigned scenes/roles
  • Act as music conductor for opera rehearsals when needed
  • Act as Chorus Master for opera productions
  • Attend daily afternoon rehearsals for the term of the production as well as scheduled evening rehearsals as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and use rehearsal time effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
