Position Summary

The faculty and staff of University of New Mexico College of Nursing welcome you to a tradition of excellence in nursing research, education, and clinical practice. We represent the very best in quality and innovation within a diverse and inclusive academic environment.  Our focus is on building evidence for effective practice and translating that evidence-based knowledge to practice and policy environments with an emphasis in rural health and serving under-resourced populations. 

We are currently recruiting a faculty member for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) position. The primary focus of the position is to teach content in the PMHNP program. This is a 50% or greater full-time effort (FTE) 12-month appointment.

The incoming faculty will advise and teach students in psychiatric mental health nursing, along with maintaining an active clinical practice. The combination of teaching and practice is a fundamental component of our educational mission. The faculty member will exhibit a passion for helping patients achieve better mental health and provide effective psychiatric care. Responsibilities include but are not limited to classroom, online and simulation teaching, mentoring, and precepting students, assisting with clinical placements and student oversight, and participation in program activities and committees to ensure stated program goals are achieved.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree in Nursing or related healthcare field
  • Active PMHNP national certification and practice experience
  • Clinical teaching experience within the last 5 years
  • Must be eligible for licensure in New Mexico

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with rural and/or under-resourced populations
  • Two years of PMHNP practice experience
  • Experience in didactic teaching
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
