Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
On December 21, 2023, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved Lamar University’s request to create a new Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and change the name of the Phillip M. Drayer Electrical Engineering Department to the Phillip M. Drayer Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering effective January 1, 2024. Therefore,
we invite applications for full time open rank tenured/tenure-track faculty position in all areas of Computer Engineering beginning Fall 2024. The successful applicant will be required to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and build a successful research program in one or more of the Computer Engineering related areas including but not limited to semiconductors & embedded systems, cybersecurity, internet of things, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence. Exceptionally qualified candidates may also be considered for an Endowed position.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
  • PhD in Computer Engineering or related fields.
  • The degree must be earned by August 2024. The candidate must hold a B.Sc. degree in computer engineering or closely related fields. The candidate must have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, conducting research, and the ability to attract funded sponsorship in one or more of the research areas related to Computer Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)
  • Industrial experience in Computer Engineering related fields
  • Experience in writing research proposals and getting external fund
  • Previous work as a post-doc
  • Experience in teaching courses in Computer Engineering, and · Experience in ABET accreditation.
