Job Summary:

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing is seeking enthusiastic faculty members with research focused in one of the following areas: Health Disparities, Aging, HIV, and Transgender Care. The ideal candidate would be qualified to hold a full-time (1.00 FTE) benefits-eligible faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track), Associate Professor (Tenure Eligible) or Professor (Tenure Eligible).  Rank and award of tenure will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The candidate’s current and future research focus may include genomics, caring science, pediatrics, women’s health, biological, clinical, behavioral, social, informatics, and/or economic research.  A successful candidate will foster a community of belonging and utilize a social justice lens to effectively engage with all members of the CU Nursing community, specifically faculty, staff, students, and community partners with diverse identities.

Examples of Work Performed may include:

  • Teach and mentor at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; creating learner centered education that meets a wide range of socio/cultural experiences.
  • Maintain an active research agenda.
  • Secure extramural funding.
  • Serve on departmental and university committees.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to collaborative inter-professional research.
  • Work with stakeholders in the health, environmental, and social sectors.
  • Collaborate with the medical campus colleges/school with appropriate inter-professional research centers.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:  

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.  

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor (Tenure Track), Associate Professor (Tenure Eligible), or Professor (Tenure Eligible) based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor (Tenure Track):

  • An earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing, social science, or a related area;
  • A record of scholarship and experience to qualify for the rank of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track).
  • Evidence of focused area of research;
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students, ideally including students with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience in securing funding via grants and contracts, as evidenced by past achievements. This could include pilot funding, intramural funding, or similar.
  • Eligible to obtain an unencumbered nursing license in Colorado. 

Associate Professor (Tenure Eligible):

  • An earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing, social science, or a related area;
  • A record of scholarship and experience to qualify for the rank of Associate Professor (Tenure Eligible);
    • Minimum qualifications for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor include an extensive and continuing body of research published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals.
  • Evidence of focused area of research;
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students, ideally including students with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience in securing funding via grants and contracts, as evidenced by past achievements. This could include pilot funding, intramural funding, or similar.
  • Eligible to obtain an unencumbered nursing license in Colorado.  

Professor (Tenure Eligible):

  • An earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing, social science, or a related area;
  • A record of scholarship and experience to qualify for the rank of Professor (Tenure Eligible);
    • Minimum qualifications for appointment at the rank of Professor include a proven track record of extramural funding, substantial scholarship in peer reviewed journals, national recognition for program of research, and leadership in professional organizations.
  • Evidence of focused area of research;
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students, ideally including students with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience in securing funding via grants and contracts, as evidenced by past achievements. This could include pilot funding, intramural funding, or similar.
  • Eligible to obtain an unencumbered nursing license in Colorado.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working on an academic medical campus.
  • Collaborative research record.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor (Tenure Track): $110,000 to $125,000 annually at 1.0 FTE

Associate Professor (Tenure Eligible): $120,000 to $140,000 annually at 1.0 FTE

Professor (Tenure Eligible): $140,000 to $170,000 annually at 1.0 FTE

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
