Position Description: | Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor Epidemiology Faculty Position Department of Epidemiology, College of Public Health The Department of Epidemiology in the University of Iowa, College of Public Health invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). We welcome applicants with experience in any area of epidemiology, including infectious diseases, clinical, interventional, and population-based studies, cancer, chronic/noncommunicable diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, nutrition, molecular and genetic, maternal and child health, injury, disability, social epidemiology, health disparities, use of technology for disease monitoring and intervention, or other areas. The Department provides a strong infrastructure for epidemiology research including prospective observational studies, interventional/clinical/pragmatic trials, and established laboratories for molecular methods. Areas of particular priority are infectious diseases epidemiology and preventive and interventional epidemiology. Applicants can take advantage of core department resources for prevention research, clinical epidemiology, and outcomes research including the Preventive Intervention Center , the Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study (MOST) cohort, and the Health Effectiveness Research Center . Collaboration opportunities with the State Hygienic Laboratory and the Great Plains Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases are also possibilities. The Department of Epidemiology partners with the University’s Carver College of Medicine and other health science colleges and has research and training relationships with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services. The University of Iowa is home to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, and to the Iowa Institute for Clinical and Translational Sciences, an NIH CTSA program hub. The College is linked to the State Hygienic Laboratory, Iowa’s state public health laboratory. Education Requirement: | Applicants must hold a PhD or other doctorate in epidemiology or in a relevant field or a MD with experience in epidemiology or relevant field. |
