The Department of Clinical Sciences at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (OSU-CVM) is seeking a clinical or tenure-track faculty member in the field of Comparative Veterinary Ophthalmology. This appointment is available at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor rank depending on qualifications and experience. The candidate will join a thriving ophthalmology service with a current team of two full-time faculty ACVO diplomates, 4 talented ABVO residents and 3 dedicated RVTs.
Position Information: The selected candidate will work with other faculty members to provide exceptional patient care, robust support of the veterinary practitioner referral base, and outstanding learning opportunities for veterinary students, interns, and residents. The faculty member will participate in clinical responsibilities within both the Small Animal and Large Animal hospitals of the Veterinary Medical Center and at the OSU-CVM Dublin outpatient satellite clinic. The faculty member will engage in didactic teaching within the pre-clinical curriculum, provide continuing education targeting the general practice community, participate in collaborative research and other scholarly activities, and serve the College of Veterinary Medicine through various committees.
Candidates interested in a tenure-track position must have a proven record in ophthalmic research, which includes the ability to write and develop proposals that will obtain extramural funding.
Qualifications: A DVM or equivalent degree and board-certification in the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) or equivalent international board or board-eligible through the completion of an approved ophthalmology residency training program. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work well within a team, and a passion for teaching and mentoring veterinary students and house officers is required. Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the state of Ohio is also required. Preference will be given to candidates with ACVO or equivalent Diplomate status.
