Our vision is to be a premier resource for developing an engaged and productive workforce using a customer-centric focus to promote pride, collaboration, and efficiency across the University while serving as a benchmark for effective higher education onboarding and offboarding practices. The center coordinates new employee orientation, engagement activities such as campus tours and trivia activities for employees, as well as assisting colleges and divisions in facilitating smooth onboarding and offboarding experiences.
Essential Job Duties
Join our team as an Onboarding Specialist and dive into the exciting world of creating memorable experiences for new employees! You will get the opportunity to welcome new members of the Wolfpack community and by participating in bus and walking tours that showcase our campus.  
In this role you will play an important role in providing support to temporary and permanent employees, supervisors, and HR representatives across NC State. 
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Facilitate one-on-one onboarding sessions for new employees, ensuring critical tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on onboarding/offboarding processes, providing consultation to departments and supervisors.
  • Coordinate employee engagement activities aligned with the university’s mission and vision.
  • Manage New Employee Orientation programs, including Benefits Orientation.
  • Analyze data trends, troubleshoot system integrations, and recommend initiatives for improvement.
  • Provide customer support via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance onboarding processes and program delivery.

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
  • Familiarity with human resource services, policies, and procedures, including interpreting and conveying them clearly.
  • Experienced in planning, coordinating, and facilitating effective information sessions, presentations, and communication materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities, demonstrated in professional interactions and emotional situations. 
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills, including clear communications of policy and procedures to a wide variety of employees. 
  • Proven skills in active listening, counseling, advising, and fostering collaboration within teams and ability maintain a high level of confidentiality. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University onboarding/offboarding policies and procedures
  • 3+ years of human resources experience in a university setting
  • Experience with Peoplesoft or other HR information systems.
