Job Summary

This position is directed by the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC) Associate Director (AD) for Community Outreach and Engagement, the Executive Director for the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (OCOE) and supervised by the OCOE Health Education Supervisor. The incumbent will assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating efforts to increase bidirectionality between the community and UCDCCC. Key roles for the analyst will be to coordinate and support strategies to enhance the participation of the community in UCDCCC research, clinical trials, and advisory boards. These activities include but are not limited to working with clinical investigators and the community to increase recruitment into and the diversity of participants in clinical trials and studies, building and improving community and researcher capacity to engage with each other, identifying community needs and communicating those needs across UCDCCC, and assisting in program analysis, particularly in collecting and monitoring outcome metrics for outreach, engagement, and education.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with two (2) or more years of relevant experience and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Community outreach and engagement experience.
  • Project and research coordination and/or management experience.
  • Experience in community engagement and education with a wide range of constituents.
  • Experience facilitating education and training around bidirectionality
  • Demonstrated intercultural competency skills and experience working cross-culturally
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to review information, draw conclusions, develop, and evaluate alternatives/solutions
  • Ability to interpret and disseminate policy
  • Demonstrated ability to network and build strong relationships with community members and organizations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to conduct program assessments, identify needs, requirements, and develop process improvement recommendations for the successful implementation of plans/ strategies to improve bidirectionality and community engaged research
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office products required. Including the ability to create PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support bidirectionality efforts during non-work hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge of clinical trials, including recruiting diverse community members
  • Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills necessary to collect data, analyze it, and develop substantive reports.
  • Knowledge of program planning, development, and high level of expertise regarding evaluation methods

Department Description

The University of California, Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC) is a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute, and an Organized Research Unit under the Office of Research. UCDCCC is a clinical and research enterprise consisting of 255 faculty members from the Davis, Sacramento, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory campuses with research funding totaling $54M. The UCDCCC’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) catalyzes, conducts, and leads bidirectional outreach and engagement that addresses the cancer control, prevention and research needs of our 19-county catchment area (Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Merced, Nevada, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Sierra, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Placer, Yolo, and Yuba). This position will facilitate and foster bidirectional relationships between community stakeholders and UCDCCC and identifying opportunities to collaborate across community, research, health, and educational institutions.
