The Onboarding Center is a department within University Human Resources that strives to create an efficient, engaging, and welcoming experience for employees by providing superior personalized customer service. Essential Job Duties
 This is an internal posting for current NC State permanent and temporary employees, and candidates with RIF priority.
As the Office Coordinator you will serve as the welcoming face of the NC State University Onboarding Center (OBC) team. As the first point of contact, you’ll greet visitors with warmth and professionalism, ensuring an exceptional experience and positive first impression.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing face-to-face, email and phone support,
  • Guiding visitors to relevant services and scheduling appointments
  • Assisting with budget oversight

You’ll also provide administrative support to the OBC Manager, handle special projects, and maintain excellent customer service standards.

Other Responsibilities
Teamwork and collaboration are vital components to this position. Each member of the Onboarding Center is responsible for:
  • Communicating ideas in person and in writing with team members.
  • Conflict Management—the ability to negotiate with team members to settle disputes and make sure everyone is happy with or understands the team’s choices.
  • Listening—having the ability to listen to the ideas and concerns of peers. Ask questions for clarification and demonstrate concern for the team.
  • Reliability—Be able to gain and maintain colleagues’ trust by sticking to deadlines and completing assigned tasks and not responding with “that’s not my job.”
  • Respectfulness—conveying respect for team members and their ideas.
  • Openness and flexibility to regularly cover different functions of the office.

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

  • Agility and flexibility are essential in this role, as each team member plays a pivotal role in the Center’s success.

  • Openness to learning and embracing technological advancements and organizational changes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft HR and Financials
  • Familiarity with Google mail, calendars, and docs
  • Advanced proficiency in Word and Excel, with the ability to utilize these tools effectively in a professional setting.
  • Working Knowledge of key aspects of the onboarding process such as I-9 verification, tax procedures, benefits enrollment, and JAR reporting.
