Job Description:

The Institute for Transportation at Iowa State University is currently seeking applications for an Office Administrator, which will be classified as a Research Administrator I.

The Institute for Transportation (InTrans) is an $18 million research organization at Iowa State University that includes 15 centers and programs. InTrans conducts transportation-related research and outreach, and addresses the education and workforce development needs of future transportation professionals. This position will work as a key administrative member of the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), regularly interacting with internal team members and local, state, and federal agency sponsors and private employees.

The LTAP seeks an Office Administrator to provide excellent administrative support to the LTAP Team as well as LTAP activity coordination. This individual will provide support to the Director and staff of LTAP with the coordination of events and workshops in the delivery of transportation training, technical assistance, and outreach efforts to local agencies and those that assist them. They will be responsible for creating budgets and cost estimates for events, trainings, workshops, etc. They will also be responsible for negotiating with vendors and taking minutes during meetings.

The successful candidate will need to be self-disciplined, reliable, detail oriented, possess excellent written and organizational skills, maintain a high-level customer service focus, and have the time management skills to accomplish multiple tasks at the same time. LTAP team members must also be able to adjust as conditions change and opportunities arise from day to day. It is essential that the incumbent in this position fully understand the service-oriented vision of the LTAP Program, it's team and funding sponsors, and it's impact.

Due to the event and workshop focus of this position, work outside typical workday hours is sometimes required.

This is a one-year, fixed term position with the opportunity for renewal.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
