Job Description

The Nursing Lab Manager is responsible for the management and successful operation of the nursing skills labs on both the Rapids and Cambridge Campuses. This position facilitates positive learning experiences for students by providing support through guidance and mentoring in lab and simulation environments to promote student success. This includes scheduling of learning activities as indicated by Nursing faculty, facilitate set-up of learning environment, assist students in the lab, monitor student activity and provide feedback to faculty regarding student progress, completion of required lab experiences and facilitation of coverage for simulation experiences. This position develops and oversees the budgets, acquisition of supplies for the labs, reconciling of the accounts, and maintains a positive relationship with vendors.
This position establishes and maintains congruity between the nursing labs on the Rapids and Cambridge Campuses and serves as the lead worker for other staff in both labs. This position coordinates remediation and re-testing by lab faculty with the appropriate faculty member, course, and program competencies to ensure student success.
This is a seasonal position scheduled to work Monday – Friday during the academic year (August – May).
Required Qualifications
RN with an unencumbered license in good standing and previous work experience as an RN.
Skillful with nursing procedures and techniques and the ability to convey knowledge/skill to others.
Previous experience with procurement and budgeting.
Experience as a lead worker utilizing organizational and management skills.
Ability to take responsibility for learning the latest in nursing technology and convey updates to appropriate constituents, including education and facilitation of simulation as an instructional method.
Ability to develop processes and procedures for the use of nursing labs to ensure the safety of faculty, students, and staff.
Knowledge of professional laboratory principles, techniques, and operation of lab equipment.to successfully manage the labs.
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of commitment to the success of culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse populations of students, staff, and faculty.
Ability to listen, perform nursing assessments, and offer support and encouragement to students.
Continuing Education Units or Nurse Clinical specialty area with experience in nursing and simulation equipment.
Ability to evaluate current processes within the lab and recommend new processes or practices.
