The IR Nursing Educator is a masters prepared nurse who demonstrates expertise in staff and patient education, nursing practice, nursing care delivery, evidence-based practice and research, and collaborates with other disciplines in professional development activities. The IR Nursing Educator incorporates knowledge and skill in clinical nursing theory and practice, adult learning principles and best practice educational standards. The IR Nursing Educator is responsible for facilitating the provision of direct and indirect care of patients and families through educational activities of the Department of Nursing Education. The IR Nursing Educator is capable of analyzing complex, patient care situations, and consulting and collaborating with all members of the health care team. The IR Nursing Educator serves as a role model for patient care staff within the unit/department/institution and community.

Scope of Position: The Nursing Educator in Interventional Radiology (IR), is responsible for providing personalized education by designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating classroom and clinical instruction to support the orientation, ongoing educational needs, and the New Graduate Nurse Residency program. The IR Nursing Educator provides support, education, guidance, direction and assistance to the patient care team in order to attain/maintain quality and safe care to patients in designated clinical areas. The IR Nursing Educator functions as an educational consultant working with teams to cultivate collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of personalized nursing care with a focus on positive patient care outcomes and the patients involvement in his/her own plan of care. Patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in Nursing and 2 years clinical perioperative experience or clinical instruction experience.

Strong leadership skills, effective communication, problem-solving, and strong organizational skills

Interest in learning and teaching new skills.

Recent teaching experience through employment or community activities. Experience with, commitment to, and competence in dealing with diverse adult populations.

Strong facilitation and presentation skills.

On going:

Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, educational, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions. Maintains current Ohio RN license. Meet mandatory educational and health requirements. Maintains and seeks new knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures and protocols.
