Nursing Director - Ambulatory Perioperative Services

University of Utah Health is seeking a dynamic new Nursing Director for Ambulatory Perioperative Services!

 

This Nursing Director will work at a system level to lead perioperative services and support across University of Utah Health's ambulatory surgery locations:

  • University Hospital (Acute Care Complex)
  • University Orthopedic Center (UOC)
  • Farmington Health Center
  • South Jordan Health Center
  • Moran Eye Center
  • Future location: West Valley Campus

 

As a health system leader, this role will interface with colleagues and stakeholders within the University of Utah Health System's Hospitals and Clinics, Inpatient Perioperative Leadership, and other University Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

 

Oversight in this role includes:

  • Nursing Staff
  • Surgical Technicians
  • Operating Rooms & Procedure Rooms
  • Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Sterile Processing
  • Same Day Surgery
  • Admissions and Front Desk
  • Scheduling

This position directs the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all internal operations of assigned clinical departments. This includes the planning and business objectives, budgetary information, human resource and financial management operations of assigned departments. The incumbent acts as a catalyst between the department and its customers, and staff, to ensure continuity and quality of service and care.

 

This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.

 

Qualified Applicants must meet or exceed the following minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Five years of progressively more responsible management experience.

Required Licensure:

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Business Administration or a related area.

  • Actively engages staff with updates and news as well as involving staff in decisions and work teams. Provides feedback and recognition when appropriate.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

  • Ability to determine the appropriate staff mixes to support patient and customer needs.
  • Knowledge of hospital business operations and demonstrated strategic planning skills.
  • Knowledge of budgeting practices, reporting analysis and forecasting.


Qualifications
Required
  • Five years of progressive management experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
