The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is looking for qualified applicants, who possess an unencumbered Pennsylvania RN license and a BSN, for a full-time staff position as a Continuing Education Manager. The position will report directly to the Director of Professional Development and Continuing Education. The Office of Professional Development & Continuing Education is one of the premier providers of accredited continuing professional development locally, regionally, nationally, and globally. The Continuing Education Manager will actively plan, implement, and evaluate live, virtual, and enduring educational activities. This position will function as a nurse planner for the accredited provider unit, ensuring appropriate adult learning and educational design principles and processes meet programming requirements.
The Continuing Education Manager must work in a fast-paced environment, be adaptable to change, work collaboratively and autonomously to solve problems, coordinate complex projects and activities, maintain precise reporting, and compile and analyze data to ensure the department's mission and goals.

Job Summary

Designs and implements curriculum development and course design for program/s and manages all continuing education and training operations. Performs budgetary functions. Develops projects based off of needs assessments and develops formal and informal CE credit programs. Updates existing curriculum, ensures accreditation requirements, coordinates all program logistics, and performs administrative duties.


Essential Functions 

  • Designs and implements curriculum development and course design for program(s).
  • Manages all continuing education and training operations, including staff oversight, development and implementation of schedules and work plans, and coordination of operations with all other applicable departments/institutions/programs.
    • Develops formal and informal continuing education and training programs.
    • Prepares program budgets; develops enrollment projections and breaks-even estimates.
    • Designs, reviews, and updates curriculum, ensuring accreditation requirements.
  • Conducts needs assessments, determines curriculum/course design, and develops projects accordingly.
  • Coordinates program logistics, including creation and distribution of program materials, tracking participant status, securing appropriate technology/equipment/facilities, determining/scheduling/contacting appropriate lecturers/subject matter experts and contacting and enrolling program participants.
  • Arranges for and/or supervises on-site administration for programs.
  • Performs administrative duties such as timely correspondence and reports, including summative reports of individual programs/development.
  • Develop marketing plans to advertise and recruit for any program(s) being developed, including material/content for department website.

Physical Effort 

Light: Little physical effort is required. Duties are primarily sedentary on a daily basis but require the ability to travel to various meetings on and off campus and to conferences via car or airplane. May be required to move objects up to 20 pounds occasionally for educational events.

Hiring Range $4,061.92 - $5,415.83 per month
