The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Position Summary
UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing is seeking candidates for a Simulation Nurse Specialist position, a 12-month EHRA non- faculty position. The Simulation Nurse Specialist will provide instructional support services in EISLE and assist faculty in the development of instruction for the simulation center. They will provide faculty development around simulation-based learning. They will assist with scheduling for lab activities. They will conduct routine maintenance of the simulation lab space, task trainers, and healthcare simulators (mannequins) housed there; the setup and breakdown of events; and some basic skills content will comprise the bulk of the duties associated with this role.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Successful candidates will bring simulation-based education knowledge and expertise. They will be skilled in project management, scheduling and troubleshooting unexpected occurrences on the day of events. They will be comfortable learning new technologies and working with those technologies while training students, faculty, and other simulation lab users in basic simulations pedagogy and in current nursing procedures. The ability to work with and instruct small groups, supervise students and part-time staff, and assist with the development and maintenance of a busy calendar of events are essential for the success of the person in this role.
Candidates must be flexible, reliable, committed to working collaboratively, able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, and curious. 
Knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential. Developing knowledge for varied simulation platforms.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prefer candidate with experience working with healthcare task trainers and mannequins. Candidates should have experience with delivering training, preferably in a healthcare-related field. Basic understanding of research techniques and principles is preferred. The department prefers candidates who have demonstrated the ability to effectively manage several projects, are detail oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and have previous experience working with diverse populations. Experience using electronic healthcare records is preferred.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. with assistance on irregular basis and to work safely around healthcare devices (i.e., needles; and other various healthcare equipment)
