Position Summary
The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a full time position to work within the division of Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation (SCT) in the section of Oncology. Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. The division plays active roles in the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and National Experimental Therapeutics Consortium (Head Start), Therapeutic Advances for Childhood Leukemia (TACL) and Genomic Analysis Informs Novel/ Individualized Cancer Therapy (GAIN/iCAT) consortia. Embedded within the division are the “PIPseq” (Precision in Pediatrics through Sequencing) precision oncology and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation Developmental Therapeutics (PCFDTP) Programs. Columbia serves as the hub for a citywide effort to provide whole exome sequencing to all children with cancer and is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated COG Phase I center serving the New York, Northern New Jersey and Connecticut tri-state region with a population in excess of 20 million. This position will report to the Section Head, Oncology, Division Director and Divisional Administrator for the Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the coordination, oversight and administration of clinical research protocols.
- Screening prospective study participants, coordinating study visits.
- Evaluations and procedures, Instructing participants about use of study products or drugs, and completing case report reports.
- Developing and overseeing a quality management plan, preparation of regulatory documents for IRB submission and filing serious adverse event reports.
- Providing in-services with physicians, nurses and support staff about protocol requirements and attending staff meetings.
- Serve as a liaison between PI’s and study sponsors in both outpatient and inpatient areas and serve as a liaison with pharmacy and research pharmacy.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must have at least 2-4 years of previous related work experience in pediatrics preferred.
Other Requirements
- Current NYS NP License, maintain and renew when necessary. (NP’s are Required to have a NYS license to qualify for the position)
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Has excellent organizational and analytical skills and a high degree of flexibility
- Has excellent written and oral communication skills
- Has contact with External Public
- Light Level of Physical Activity Required
