An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

Department Description

UCSF's behavioral health clinics provide a broad range of outpatient psychiatric consultation, evaluation, and treatment interventions for emotional, psychological, or cognitive problems. Clinical programs are located in the UCSF Nancy Friend Pritzker Psychiatry Building  in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood. Situated adjacent to UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, the building is one of the few in the nation that combines outpatient mental health care for people of all ages with top-ranking programs in psychiatry and psychology training and research. By integrating behavioral health clinical, training, and research facilities under one roof—along with services from neurology, neurosurgery, radiology, anesthesiology, obstetrics/gynecology, and other specialties at UCSF—our center allows patients to receive world-class clinical care and participate in cutting-edge clinical research at a single location.


Required Qualifications

  • Three - five years of experience managing/directing outpatient clinical centers
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse in the State of California
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification
  • Strong clinic / center patient care management skills. Practice management knowledge in scheduling, customer-service methods, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and / or information technology. Broad knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for the delivery of services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making.
  • Strong leadership, fiscal, and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management, and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration, and consistent achievement of objectives.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.
  • Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging best practices and technologies in the clinic / center healthcare industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Experience in a large academic medical center setting
  • Lean Certification

License/Certification

  • California driver’s license (CDL) if required for the position
  • Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
  • Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Must have completed a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
  • Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day.  CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
UCSF Health requires all Advanced Health Practitioners (APP) to be credentialed through OMAG to practice and be privileged through CIDP to function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites and affiliates. Credentialing, health plan enrollment, and approval of privileges must be completed prior to the first working day. Inability to comply with the requirements of OMAG/CIDP AT ALL TIMES will result in either, a LOA or suspension of privileges designation.
