ABOUT THE JOB
The Nurse Coordinator, Patient Education Services provides leadership for strategic planning related to patient education across the healthcare continuum. Develop staff competence with patient education. Develop and maintain a model for patient education excellence in the clinical areas. Coordinates development or purchase of patient education materials that are evidenced-based and meet all health literacy and readability standards. Assures appropriate materials are available in PowerChart, myStation, or available for print distribution. Collaborates to develop effective and efficient documentation methods for patient education.
SALARY RANGE $70,179 - $111,821

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops and maintains a clinical model for effective patient education across the health care continuum as well as a process for the development and approval of patient education materials to be maintained within PowerChart, on the MU Health Care website and the Patient Portal.
Collaborates with Tiger Institute and Nursing Informatics Coordinators on the development and tracking of custom content in PowerChart and the development of an interdisciplinary method for documentation and clear communication of patient education progress across the health care continuum that meets all regulatory standards and requirements.
Ensures patient education video content available on myStation is accurate, current, and meets all standards for video delivery of patient education. Collaborates with Tiger Institute to continue to advance the delivery, ordering, documentation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of patient education video delivery.
Develops and delivers training for unit-based patient education experts. Mentors these staff to become leaders and advocates for patient education and patient satisfaction on their unit.
Analyzes patient education-related data, including documentation and usage of materials within PowerChart, myStation, and Patient Satisfaction information that is related to the effectiveness of patient education delivery and outcomes.
Facilitates evaluation, development, or purchase of patient education materials in a variety of mediums (print, video, online content, etc.). Maintains a centralized database of patient education resources, video television guides for myStation, and manages the centralized process for ordering and distribution of print resources.
Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting patient education. Maintain all policies, procedures, and documentation standards related to patient education.
May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Qualifications
.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or other related allied health related degree.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible RN experience.
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in a healthcare related field.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
