With about 40,000 employees, Duke is the third largest private employer in North Carolina, and it now has international programs in more than 150 countries.

This position will report directly to Dr. Stephen Nowicki, although it will involve working on various projects with other members of the Nowicki lab as described below.  Research responsibilities will involve working with Jill Soha and Susan Peters in the Nowicki lab on projects involving the digital analysis of avian vocalizations, both of Bachman’s sparrows and song sparrows. This work will include training on how to code in Signal©, a proprietary software package specifically developed for bioacoustic analysis of animal sounds, as well as other audio analysis software. This position also will assist with fieldwork that involves recording bird songs and observing field behavioral tests with birds, the former with Dr. Soha and the latter with graduate student Danae Diaz. This work will require training associated with being added to the Duke Institutional Animal Care and Use protocol associated with these field projects.
