The Trinity College of Arts & Sciences seeks a curious, creative and ambitious student for a 10-week communications and marketing internship this summer. Trinity College is the heart of Duke University, encompassing more than 30 academic departments and programs across the Arts & Humanities , Natural Sciences and Social Sciences .

Our 10-member team includes experts in news and feature writing; editing; photography and videography; social media and website content management; email marketing; communications strategy; executive presentations and speechwriting; and more. Interactions with all those individuals will be a part of this internship experience, with the option to specialize in any particular area of interest.

Content created by our intern(s) may appear on the Trinity College website , our Twitter account , and on dozens of departmental websites, email newsletters and social media channels from Facebook to Instagram. Exemplary work is often picked up by Duke Today and The Duke Daily – channels with much broader reach and readership.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Produce still and motion photography, audio captures and in-person interviews with Trinity students, faculty and staff for articles, photo essays, videos and podcasts
  • Create visual or written content for social media and websites
  • Attend weekly meetings of the Trinity Communications team and participate in discussions about what stories or marketing priorities we should focus on, when they should be created and launched, and why they matter to Trinity and Duke
  • Shadow various team members in their interactions with other communicators and academic leaders across Duke

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Curiosity and a willingness to ask thoughtful questions
  • Ability to work independently on projects once clear direction is given
  • Skills and interest in visual and audio storytelling
  • Being open to feedback from professionals who are committed to your growth and success in the role
  • Demonstrated record of meeting deadlines

Our office is located on Duke’s West Campus in the Old Chemistry building. A hybrid work schedule – some days in person, some days working remotely – is an option.
