DiversifyIT is a staff-led community working towards awar eness and support for all identities in IT at Duke. Since inception, we’ve been working to ensure that staff in IT feel seen, heard and acknowledged so that we can best support all others at Duke.

This is position supports the efforts of this community by providing material and logistical support for communication initia tives and objectives within the DiversifyIT organization at the direction of the DiversifyIT committee in addition to outreach to other communities inside and outside of Duke.

This position provides a unique opportunity to work with the Academic Media Production team ofthe Office of Information Technology at Duke’s recently renovated Bryan Center Studios featuring a self-service studio, podcast suite, production studio and access to media production software and equipment.  It requires customer interaction, production and participation in team meetings.

This role involves critical equity and inclusion content creation to facilitate the appreciation of the unique needs for diversification and representation in the area of information technology.

MAJOR AREAS OF FOCUS

Communications

·         Assist the DiversifyIT communications committee with fulfilling communication needs of DiversifyIT initiatives

·         Collborate to develop communications strategies for outreach to the greater DiversifyIT community

·        Investigate opportunities to build connections and g row the DiversifyIT community by building intra/extra personal relationships

·         Exploit feedback from the community to enhance and inform future DiversifyIT programming objectives.

Community Engagement

·         Implement communications strategies for outreach to the greater DiversifyIT community

·         Implement communications strategies for outreach to the greater Duke community

·         Engage with programming recipients to identify and appraise successful communication methodologies

Media Production

·         Produce long and short form media content to meet the needs of DiversifyIT using available media production technology and software (Final Cut, Premiere, After Effect s, etc.)

·         Develop andadhere to a DiversifyIT production calendar.

·         Coordinate talent for onsite and off site media productions for DiversifyIT .

EDUCATION

Must be enrolled as a college or university student.  Most applicants will be in a related field of study. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience or a desire for experience in information technology specifically media production for information technology. Knowledge of nonlinear editing systems, content creation and digital camer a systems a plus.  Adobe suite competency, especially Premiere, is essential.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Public work environment involving community interaction and engagement.  Studio working environment requiring lifting and moving media production equipment.
