New Innovations Training Specialist III in Graduate Medical Education

Position Summary:

UTHealth Houston is looking for a Training Specialist III who will work with our Graduate Medical Education department and assist them in training staff and employees on New Innovations software. This program helps to structure classes in our medical school, and it also helps track and train residents and fellows. You will plan, develop, coordinate, implement, and lead various training initiatives for face-to-face and Web-based delivery in support of the mission of UTHealth Houston. You will also teach end users best practices for the software. 

Applicants must have experience with New Innovations software and exposure to GME programs. You will work near our medical school in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, and this is an onsite position. It is full-time and classified as exempt. It is eligible for all UTHealth Houston benefits.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1.    Collaborates with management to create effective training initiatives and evaluate the effectiveness of existing training courses and programs concerning our use of New Innovations.
2.    Oversees new training initiatives to ensure that the performance objectives set forth by management are achieved.
3.    Plans, develops, and implements training resources and services, i.e., courses, presentations, workshops, and programs, to ensure the highest quality of training and instruction. 
4.    Delivers one-on-one training and group instruction to improve and enhance core professional competencies and health, biomedical, and social sciences characteristics.   
5.    Partners with management and departments in program development and coordination, curriculum development, and assessment activities.
6.    Solicits feedback and tracks progress to identify the need for follow-up support and new training opportunities and update training methods and instructional materials. 
7.    Serves as a professional resource for management and departments regarding educational curriculum, materials, and instructional design based on training needs.
8.    Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.


Certification/Skills:

•    Critical thinking skills in setting priorities, assessing situations, and making sound and prudent decisions. 
•    Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
•    Proven ability to contribute and present innovative ideas for training curricula and programs. 
•    Knowledge of and experience in training and instructional approaches and methodologies, including assessment techniques, test/measurement principles, and instructional material design and development preferred. 
•    Formal training in the latest technologies for in-person and online training is preferred.

Experience with New Innovations required
Experience in Graduate Medical Education required
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and presentation skills
Proven ability to contribute and present innovative ideas for training

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or experience in lieu of education.
 

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years of experience in training and/or teaching in an academic or professional setting with proven effectiveness and demonstrated excellence.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
