Georgia State University’s Instructional Innovation and Technology (IIT) is seeking Network Engineer, Intermediate to join our vibrant and growing team. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Network Engineering, the Network Engineer, Intermediate is a professional staff position within Network and Telecommunication Services Unit.

HERE’S WHAT YOU WILL DO

The scope of responsibilities for this position will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following:

·       Design, install, configure, and manage the project implementation and operations of the campus network infrastructure hardware and software according to BOR, IIT, and industry best practices.

·       Provide network security, classroom, and audio/visual network support for fault identification and remediation.

·       Provide level two diagnostics, problem fault isolation, and resolution for moderate to complex networking problems. Support spans all GSU locations, central and secondary data centers, cloud, remote campuses, and other GSU-supported sites.

·       Document networking systems interconnections, configuration, and processes. Create end-user documentation for applications supported by Network Engineering.

·       Analyze current networking processes and procedures and implement new ones to improve network availability and performance.

·       Work flexible and extended schedules, including nights and weekends, to support implementations and incident response as needed.

·       Perform on-call duties.

 

Required

  • Advanced experience and Support of Networking, Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Three Tier Architecture, IDF, MDF, Fiber, Cabling Technologies and VOIP
  • TCP/IP network experience, Network Diagnostic tools, Excellent Customer Service, and ability to work cohesively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with Cisco product set and Wireless technologies.

Qualifications

: 

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Firewalls, Three Tier Architecture, IDF, MDF, Fiber, Cabling Technologies and VOIP
  • TCP/IP network experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Cisco product set and Wireless technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience of diagnostic Wireshark, CLI commands.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent customer service to the University community.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment.
  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification

    ·       Expert knowledge of various networking hardware, including switches, routers, firewalls,  gateways, Network Diagnostics tools, including Wireshark, CLI commands, Sniffers, Ethereal, and Flukes with Routing Protocols, including BGP and OSPF, Network Security, including Access Control Lists, Connection Tracking, and Protocol analysis, Incident Management Systems such as ServiceNow.

    ·       Knowledge of Cisco DNA, Cisco VOIP, Microsoft VOIP, and Cisco IOS and Hardware knowledge.
