Job Summary/Basic Function | Analyze, design, install, configure, maintain, and repair the network infrastructure and application components. |
Specific Responsibilities | |
Required Relevant Education & Experience | Education: Bachelor’s Degree (4 years); Experience: 3-4 Years; Experience with TCP/IP networking and internet technologies, switch and router installation and configuration. Experience as a Network Engineer in an enterprise environment supporting greater than 500 users. Experience with current network hardware and peripheral equipment. Experience in determining network problems and coordinating hardware and/or software solutions. Experience interpreting data on system usage and developing engineering specifications to support changing service levels. Ability to independently lead selected efforts in designing and coordinating the installation of high-speed data networks. Experience with a variety of network architectures, configuration, protocols, and inter-connectivity requirements for internal/external information transmission. Experience applying the use engineering techniques in the design of network and transmission systems. Experience related to the interpretation and application of broad regulatory standards and technical specifications to assignments. |

Essential Duties and Responsibilities | Independently diagnose and resolve network hardware and software problems associated with the University’s information infrastructure. Perform performance analyses of switches, access servers, wireless network access points and routers. Provide day-to-day management of switch, access server, wireless network accesses points and router configurations. Monitor, analyze, and document performance of network switches, routers, access servers and wireless network access points. |

Essential Duties and Responsibilities | Troubleshoot data network problems and issues affecting end user equipment such as workstations, laptops, fileservers, time clocks, cashiering stations. Troubleshooting malfunctions of networking related hardware and software applications, converged communication devices and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services. |

Essential Duties and Responsibilities | Develop project plan for, and perform the installation of microcode upgrades on all network infrastructure related hardware. This includes in excess of 2000 wireless access points, specialty modules, and network switches. |

Develop operational procedures for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of network backbone components. |
