Description

Every year, the National Science Foundation (NSF) awards approximately 2,000 three-year Graduate Research Fellowships to individuals who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for advanced training in science or engineering. NSF Graduate Research Fellowships are awarded for graduate study leading to a research-based master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field. NSF Graduate Research Fellowships are tenable at any appropriate, accredited U.S. institution or foreign institution of higher education.

Eligibility
  • U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
  • College seniors or graduate students who have not completed more than 20 semester hours or 30 quarter hours of graduate study

Criteria for Selection

Selection is based on all available evidence of ability, including academic records, future contributions to the scientific community and three letters of recommendation.
