THE OPPORTUNITY
The Muslim Chaplain serves as an essential function in the Office of Religious & Spiritual Life having the responsibility for serving the spiritual needs of Babson students as well as a resource for Babson faculty and staff. The Muslim Chaplain is responsible for supporting our diverse Muslim student community spiritually, and culturally; as well as for offering a variety of religious, spiritual, educational, and social programs to the Muslim community.
The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life is part of the Student Success portfolio within the Division of Student Affairs at Babson College, which includes Accessibility Services, Campus Assessment, Response, & Evaluation (CARE) Team, Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Student Advising & Success and Wellness & Prevention Services.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Spiritual
Provide weekly opportunities for religious practices (Ju’umah prayers) and observances of holy days for campus community which may include services, sacred text/study, and/or outings.
Plan and provide weekly gatherings to sustain Muslim community and safe space for dialogue and development.
Work with a diverse team of religious leaders to develop multi-faith services and offerings campus-wide.
Participate and facilitate Inter-faith dialogue and programming.
Participate in College functions such as Baccalaureate and Commencement.
Provide support and comfort to the Babson community and lead memorials during crises.
Educational/social
Educate the Babson community on Muslim (Islamic) beliefs, basic tenets, and traditions.
Encourage and provide opportunities for students to engage in theological thought and inclusive dialogue around ethical and social justice concerns, religious diversity, and religious tolerance.
Strongly encourage and support students to engage in community outreach as well as interfaith programming with other faiths on campus.
Collaborate with other campus departments for special programing (i.e., International Education Week, CARE Week).
Administrative
Attend regular Chaplain Meetings and one-on-one meetings with Director, Religious & Spiritual Life.
Respond to electronic communications, phone calls, and other correspondence in a timely manner.
Submit weekly reports to Director, Religious & Spiritual Life & College Chaplain.
Hold weekly Office Hours.
Submit an annual budget for approval to Director, Religious & Spiritual Life & College Chaplain.
Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
Master’s Degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Counseling, or equivalent.
At least 2-5 years of related experience.
Must have the knowledge and skills committed to social justice and be able to work in a multi-faith, diverse, and inclusive environment.
Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times
Must be able to serve as a confidential Title IX resource for students who have been impacted by gender-based misconduct.
Must have strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
Ability to effectively interface with students, faculty, staff, trustees, and visitors.
Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and available as needed and to adjust and grow to the needs of the community.
HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Schedule is part-time, 15 hours/week for 10 months (possibility of renewal); August through May.
