Job Duties:


This Clinical Coordinator (CC) will provide clinical music therapy services in both individual and group formats across the lifespan and diagnoses, developing and implementing new programs and contracts with community agencies/facilities with the goal of financial stability of the clinic. The CC will also oversee clinical operations including session scheduling and creating and housing all clinical treatment paperwork. The CC will supervise practicum music therapy students on a semester-by-semester basis in collaboration with the ECU Music Therapy Department and will oversee a university-affiliated internship within two years of clinic establishment.
Clinical Service Provider (65%)
The clinical coordinator (CC) will delivery music therapy clinical services to individuals and groups throughout the ENC region. Clinical music therapy services will include facilitation of the treatment process including referral, assessment, treatment plan development, session facilitation, documentation, and evaluation of progress. The CC will determine suggested frequency of session delivery. The CC will conduct any necessary meetings with clients, families, interdisciplinary care team and/or program directors related to music therapy service progress evaluation. Sessions may occur at the MTC@ECU on-campus location, at community agencies/facilities or via telehealth. Sessions may be delivered at locations throughout Pitt Co. and within a 45-minute travel radius outside of Pitt Co., and commute time is included in the duties associated with session delivery.
Clinical Supervisor, Co-Instructor of record for MUSC Practicum Sequence (15%)
The CC will serve as co-instructor of record for MUSC 3357 (Fall), MUSC 3367 (Spring) MUSC 4287 (Fall), MUSC (Spring). Duties as co-instructor will include clinical supervision of approximately 5 music therapy students per semester in their weekly clinical practicum sessions. This supervision of music therapy practicum students will be for sessions provided by the CC through the MTC. Duties will include onsite supervision of session, pre-session review and post-session feedback for 10-12 sessions provided during the semester. The CC will be responsible for assessing and providing corresponding grade for treatment paperwork assignments and clinical competency evaluation at midterm and final for the assigned music therapy student supervisees.
Program Proposing & Contract Development (10%)
The CC will prioritize agencies determined as suitable from yearly needs assessment and propose music therapy service delivery appropriate to the agency. Program proposing is a pivotal step to establishing contracts. The CC will work with agency administration and funding offices to develop contracts for music therapy service delivery by the MTC@ECU.
Community Needs Assessment (5%)
The CC will conduct a yearly community needs assessment (1x per fiscal year) to identify facilities and/or agencies within the ENC region appropriate for music therapy service delivery and will then assess the suitability of music therapy service delivery for the agency. Needs assessment process may include site visits and meeting with agency administration/program directors.
Referral Avenue and Community Networking (5%)
CC will periodically (~4 times per calendar year) connect with program directors with healthcare, education, and community agencies to establish partnerships for referral or other community-based projects.

The Music Therapy Clinic @ East Carolina University (MTC@ECU) is an on-campus music therapy clinic that addresses health and wellness related needs across the life span including children and adults with exceptionalities/neurodivergence (i.e., autism, intellectual/developmental disability, chromosomal abnormalities, hearing and speech related needs), children and adult mental health, and older adults (i.e., age-related decline, neuro-cognitive impairments). Services are provided to individuals and groups in the community as well as in partnership with existing agencies/programs in Pitt Co. and ENC. Additionally, the clinic is an integral part of the music therapy education program at ECU with the inclusion of student training. The clinic will also serve as a hub for music-based interdisciplinary collaboration with professionals on and off campus through projects and research.
