Position SummaryWork will primarily be conducted in the Museum of Southwestern Biology’s Division of Mammals, but there may be an opportunity for field-based mammal work as well. The work will be data-intensive and will include data entry/transcription of natural history collection data. This will require location and retrieval of museum specimens from natural history collection holdings and data transcription from specimen labels, field datasheets, collection catalogs, or digital records. Other assorted curatorial duties will also be required, such as maintenance and operation of the dermestarium, preparation of museum specimens, osteoscribing, processing and matching of skeletal material, cataloging, specimen installation, data entry, database verification, geo-referencing, and assistance on field research projects. 
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Seeking a degree in Biology
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet use
  • Completed courses in or knowledge of mammalogy, general vertebrate zoology, or museum science
  • Understanding of relational databases
  • Awarded work-study for the current school term
  • Able to work approximately 20 hours/week.
