Position Summary and Duties
Responsible for the concepting, scripting, recording, editing, and distribution of video and other related multimedia content in support of University marketing initiatives. Will display a strong marketing background and an advanced understanding of how multimedia content integrates with and supports other communications channels (social media, web, special events, print, etc.). Video and rich media content produced will support strategic initiatives of the marketing, admission, advancement, academic affairs, and other offices as needed.
Develop, create, and produce all video-related content for the university’s marketing efforts to prospective students, donors, and internal audiences. This includes all aspects of the video production process including story identification, researching, interviewing, storyboarding, creative, planning, writing, shooting, and editing. Serve as project manager for video projects that require external vendors. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on relevant University events for coverage and documentary opportunities, identify and suggest new opportunities for content and coverage. Provides creative and technical decision-making that enhances the quality of a project (i.e. lighting, shooting angles, lens selection, exposure, placement and type of microphones, location, use of movement and interview style) through artistic techniques, tools, and talents, including comprehensive familiarity with Adobe Premiere and other non-linear editing tools. Responsible for uploading the media to the proper channels and maintaining a database of footage, assets, and completed videos. Maintain university YouTube channel and provide metrics for engagement as needed. Monitor all video, lighting, and sound equipment to ensure proper function and make suggestions for potential improvement when applicable.
Fulfill regular photo and editing assignments for marketing purposes and editorial needs including social media, print publications, and web communications. Manage the institutional photo library. Plan and execute university-wide photo shoots in collaboration with the rest of the Marketing & Communication team.
Create, design, and animate motion graphics content for web and social platforms that support the brand and the university.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; 1-3 years of experience
In-depth knowledge of video production, non-linear editing, and post-production techniques. Knowledge of shooting studio-style as well as on location and experience with a variety of different cameras, including dSLR cameras, GoPro, and professional HD cameras. In-depth knowledge of general and special photographic assignments requiring professionalism and technical expertise using digital cameras, including candid coverage of campus activities and special events; editorial or illustration photos for publications; architectural photographs; faculty portraits.
Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills for print, video, and web. Excellent writing marketing copy and visual storytelling skills. Superior organizational, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently. Superior time-management skills and ability to manage and meet challenging deadlines, and handle multiple projects
Ability to write for various audiences in a clear, consistent, and strategic manner. Ability to drive results and multi-task in a collaborative, consensus-focused organization. Ability to support the University’s goals for institutional diversity, as well as the goals and values of a Catholic, Jesuit education.
