Job Summary

The Memorial Church seeks to build an inclusive community with a commitment to fostering students’ spiritual, personal, and intellectual growth. The Multifaith Engagement Fellow will actively demonstrate that the Memorial Church is a place of hospitality, acceptance, warmth, and belonging.

This position will support our departmental and University mission by coordinating multifaith engagement initiatives on campus. The focus of the position is to foster multifaith, religious, spiritual, and ethical dialogues campus wide. The successful candidate must have a proven ability to create, implement and deliver multi-denominational multifaith programming and a demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity and social justice.  The position will work collaboratively with campus and community partners.


Position Description

  • Designs and implements multifaith programming and events with the Memorial Church, Harvard Chaplains, Board of Religious, Spiritual, and Ethical Life (BRSEL), Harvard Divinity School, and Dean of Students Office according to the mission and goals of the Memorial Church and the greater One Harvard Initiative.
  • Identify opportunities to develop student organization(s) and/or programming to understand various faith-based/spiritual traditions and explore opportunities for dialogue and discussion.
  • Implements new student initiatives and manages the budget of the Judeo-Christian Fund.
  • Researches and develops programming for a range of student populations, including religiously affiliated student groups, graduate students, and underrepresented groups at Harvard University.
  • Helps to establish a lecture series in collaboration with Harvard Hillel.
  • Engages Harvard affiliates and community members through individual meetings, recurring small group events/series, and collaborative signature programs with Memorial Church staff and other University departments.

Basic Qualifications

Three or more years of related experience. Education beyond high school may count towards experience.


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • College degree preferred, or an equivalent of education plus relevant experience in an office environment.
  • A successful candidate has knowledge and experience of the Harvard College undergraduate environment.
  • An interest in working with diverse, talented, and highly motivated Harvard students, as well as a commitment to holistic student well-being.
  • Possesses good judgment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a willingness to take initiative. Flexibility, organization, and a positive attitude are also preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs.  Prior experience with Harvard technology and systems a plus.

Work Format Details

This position is based primarily on-campus, in Massachusetts. This may include in-person during emergency situations (if applicable). Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
