School/College/Division Description
The Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) coordinates efforts that establish a healthy campus climate for students, staff and faculty. DEI advances the many local, regional, national and international relationships that form the UWM Family and fosters an innovative vision, implementation and maintenance of campus-community connections through a deepened commitment and mutual respect between and among our internal and external partners. DEI helps foster an inclusive campus community through partnerships and collaborations with academic programs, student support offices, faculty constituent groups and campus programming. DEI collaborates widely across campus to coordinate the UWM engagement strategy. UWM supports partnerships with institutions and communities regionally, nationally, and globally.
Southeast Asian American Student Center (SEAASC)
The SEAASC’s mission is to provide culturally sensitive supportive services that are essential for Southeast Asian American students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to achieve their educational goals. We achieve our mission by carrying out programs and activities that help to create a friendly campus environment that enables Southeast Asian American students to fully engage in the process of learning and discovery. The SEAASC plays an important role in the recruitment and retention of Southeast Asian American (Cambodian, Hmong, Lao, and Vietnamese) students at UWM. We work closely with faculty, staff, families, alumni, and Southeast Asian American community leaders to ensure student success.
Job Summary
The Success Coach for the SEAASC provides holistic coaching to multicultural students, develops and executes programming, and serves on institutional committees to support multicultural students and their allies. The role of the Success Coach is to support retention, intervention, and outreach efforts that will lead to increased graduation rate for multicultural students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education counseling or a related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in advising or relevant field
  • Experience working with students, parents, faculty and staff
  • Experience working with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Administration, or related field
  • Experience working in a higher education institution with preference for academic affairs, student affairs, student services, and/or counselling
  • Demonstrate ability to design and implement successful programs using data driven metrics
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills utilizing tact and diplomacy
  • Relevant language and/or community experience to support student and family networks that extend beyond the campus
Target Salary Range Salary will be determined by finalist's experience, training, education and equity-based factors, but we anticipate hiring between $40,000 - $46,000.
