Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | Under minimal supervision, the Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for the assigned mission area while providing day-to-day administrative support. This position prioritizes competing demands while completing a broad range of assignments based on needs of the mission, including but not limited to travel, calendar management, filing and record keeping, purchasing and procurement, facilities management, equipment and inventory control, recruitment and search processes, financial management, data and background information research, and compiling reports. The Specialist handles mail, phone coverage and inquiries, schedules and organizes meetings and special events, greets high-level visitors, and completes other duties as needed or assigned. These responsibilities must be completed in accordance with University, State, Federal and other applicable rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned. |
Minimum Qualifications: | Education: Bachelor’s Degree. Experience: Four years experience in administrative staff work. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. |

Physical Demands | Must be able to be in the office 5 days a week. Sedentary work performed in a normal office environment; exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Ability to attend meetings both on and off campus. Spending long hours in front of a computer screen. |
