Job Description

Center for the Future of Arizona (CFA) seeks a Manager, Marketing & Communications, to support the development and achievement of the organization’s communications, branding, and marketing efforts and effectively elevate the message and influence of CFA, its brand reputation, programs, and events. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the organization achieves its mission to bring Arizonans together to create a stronger and brighter future for the state.

The Manager, Marketing & Communications is responsible for managing campaigns, marketing events, and developing multimedia collateral for CFA initiatives and programs. This role will manage the production of key organizational and program campaigns, including planning, concepting, content development, design, and measurement/reporting. This position reports to the Director, Strategic Marketing & Communications and works collaboratively with CFA colleagues across teams, as well as visual/creative professionals contracted by CFA.

Essential Duties

  • Researches and manages marketing communications campaigns, projects, and collateral within CFA brand guidelines, tone, and with editorial consistency.
  • Writing and production of marketing communications materials and collateral for the organization, including, but not limited to, web and other digital content, print reports, brochures, event materials, presentations, and direct mail pieces. Manages print collateral inventory, reorders, distribution.
  • Measures and reports on key performance indicators and specific project and campaign outcomes. Analyzes data and helps maintain monthly dashboard, media coverage tracker, and generates recaps and reports as needed (earned media monitoring, paid media, social analytics, Google analytics, etc.).
  • Provides strategic, creative ideas and direction and effectively collaborates with outside vendors such as graphic design firms, printers, videographers, etc. relevant to ongoing marketing communications projects and monitors use of CFA brand and graphic standards.
  • Assists the Director, Strategic Marketing & Communications in developing the marketing communications strategy, tactics, and key messages for the organization and makes recommendations to best serve organizational and project needs.
  • In coordination with the Director, Strategic Marketing & Communications, develops and distributes local, regional, and national media press releases and pitches story ideas.
  • Helps develop and maintain Marketing Communications annual calendar and other key structures and processes for the department.
  • Manages and fields project/deliverables requests and helps maintain/evolve the process to ensure efficient production.
  • Researches industry trends and innovations, keeps abreast of current events, and makes recommendations to the Director, Strategic Marketing & Communications.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or closely related field AND five (5) years of experience in a public relations/marketing role; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with outlining, planning, and managing the steps/process of projects across a wide variety of marketing and communications functions, including integrated campaigns, video, and digital and print collateral.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of format and practices for print, broadcast, and electronic mediums. 
  • Experience developing, revising, and rebranding organizational communications guidelines.
  • Experience developing creative briefs, project timelines, and presentations.
  • Experience contributing to cultivating a welcoming, inclusive and equitable workplace.
  • Evidence of having a track record as an implementer who thrives on effectively managing multiple streams of work concurrently.
  • Experience in relationship building with a sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all internal and external partners.
  • Experience in being a self-starter, managing timelines, and successfully working independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience co-developing and engaging in deadline-driven review processes.
  • Experience leading entrepreneurial and proactive approaches to problem solving.
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook), SharePoint, and Salesforce (or other CRM applications), Salesforce Pardot (or other email marketing platforms), and Asana (or other project management software).
  • Experience with social media platforms and monitoring/analytics tools, PRNewswire and other media relations tools, and Google Analytics, Ads, and other Google products.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; staff may choose to work remotely 2-3 days a week.
  • On-site event support including but not limited to PR and multimedia production projects, performed across the Phoenix metro area and the state.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 20 pounds.
