Position Summary | The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Central Michigan University invites applications for a 9-month Lecturer position in the broadly defined area of meteorology beginning in August 2024. The selected candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in atmospheric thermodynamics and dynamic meteorology, as well as survey-level courses in severe weather and climate change. This is a full-time position with benefits. |
Required Qualifications | Candidates must hold a M.S. degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field. In addition, candidates must demonstrate (1) strong oral and written communication skills, (2) the potential for outstanding teaching, and (3) the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. |
Preferred Qualifications | Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field and/or university-level teaching experience. |

About the Department | The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is housed in the College of Science and Engineering. We offer B.S. degrees in Meteorology, Environmental Science, and Geology, and participate in an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Earth and Ecosystems Science. The expertise of EAS faculty members spans the Earth sciences, including meteorology, hydrology, environmental modeling, climatology, geophysics, and geochemistry. The meteorology program includes a 24-workstation instructional lab, a digital map wall, a radiosonde system, and a Campbell weather station.
