Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose
Under the general direction of the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, the Men’s Basketball Assistant – Video and Operations is responsible for recording and coding video, collecting statistics, analyzing data, and writing reports to prepare the men’s basketball team for competition.
In additional, this role assists in the planning and organization of team travel, coordinating student-athlete academic development, and serving as a social media liaison between Pacific and all conference schools and the West Coast Conference office. This position may include on-the-court instruction and player development, as determined by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
Essential Functions
  • Resolves routine and complex problems with minimal consultation; handles multiple assignments and prioritizes in a constantly changing work environment; recognizes and improves administrative and operational processes as needed.
  • Produces digital media for use in recruiting media and videos, scouting reports and video sessions.
  • Records videos of men’s basketball games.
  • Codes videos of basketball games through use of software to facilitate video analysis.
  • Produces videos for use in scouting reports, recruiting videos and team video sessions.
  • Maintains video databases of all opponents.
  • Analyzes data and writes reports to help prepare men’s basketball team for competition.
  • Develops plans and arrangements for team’s travel for all contests conducted away from the Pacific campus. Responsible for booking travel: flights, hotels, ground transportation, meals and per diem.
  • Oversees and monitor’s expenses for team and coaches ensuring timely and accurate submission of expense reimbursements, adherence to University business policies and procedures, and provides support to budget planning and management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Two (2) years of related basketball experience: playing, coaching or basketball operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of basketball recruiting and knowledge of team travel.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail and able to work and meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally, to give direction or to drive results.
  • Basic computer skills and social media skills.
  • Basic understanding of budget oversight and control.
  • General knowledge of NCAA, West Coast Conference and University of the Pacific rules and regulations as they pertain to student-athletes and prospective student-athletes.
  • Basic knowledge of arranging travel for large groups.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Requires extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Requires lengthy durations of time spent outdoors. Ability to do physical tasks related to pool preparation for meets/practices. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is performed in both a standard office environment as well as at sports venues. Work is performed during standard business hours, as well as during non-regular office hours to fulfill business needs. Travel may be required.
Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range $66,560.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
