JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Medical Secretary to coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated with scheduling surgeries, verifying benefits, collecting payments, coordinating preop and post op appointments.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule Ophthalmology surgical cases, coordinating preop and post op care. Submit orders to surgical facilities timely and accurately.
  • Verify insurance benefits and request authorizations as needed. Council patient on benefits and out of pocket responsibilities.
  • Answer telephone calls from patients promptly and efficiently.  Communicate with physicians and coordinate schedules as needed.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Work requires a general educational background normally equivalent to a high school education.
  • Work requires two years of related medical clerical experience sufficient to acquire skills in transcribing medical terminology, office organization and communications.

  • A completed medical secretarial program (nine months up to two years accredited program) may be substituted for equivalent experience.

JOB HOURS

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
