Position Summary

The UNM HSC SOM Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Medical Records Assistant to work with the Faculty and Medical Coding Analyst. The assistant is primarily responsible for obtaining accurate data for charge collections and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) verification. The assistant is also responsible for performing basic medical record auditing and other duties as needed.

Under direct supervision, other duties may include: Designing and maintaining paper and electronic data files to auditing and billing activities, verify data accuracy, filing and collating documentation and reports, entering data in electronic files and databases. Training and some in person office work is required.

Salary is dependent on experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements:  
    High school diploma or GED     
    Freshman or Sophomore standing     
    Currently enrolled and in good academic standing at UNM
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
    Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures     
    Computer data entry skills     
    Skilled in the use of computer spreadsheet and/or database applications in the compilations 
    of research data     
    Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times a MUST
Preferred Qualifications:
    Powerchart knowledge     
    Knowledge of human anatomy/physiology     
    Skilled in the use of computerized systems and databases    
    Attention to detail     
    Strong interpersonal skills
