Curry Health Center invites applications for the Medical Receptionist (Administrative Associate II) to greet patients, schedule appointments, process patient information, manage the reception windows, answer and direct telephone calls, and place and release health holds in BANNER for all incoming students. This position may also supervise student employees.

This position is responsible for monitoring immunization compliance; generate Electronic Medical Record notes for patient messages and prescription refill requests; processing forms; entering data; mentoring, teaching, and training new Medical Reception personnel; organizing and filing; assisting with patient care surveys, time studies, patient flow studies and CHC policy and procedure development; and covering for the other medical reception positions as well as working independently on Saturdays as needed.

This position requires incumbent to develop working knowledge of patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with State, Federal, HIPAA statutes; develop working knowledge of related Curry Health Center, University of Montana, State, and Federal policies, procedures, and Laws; develop working knowledge of related software such as BANNER and the Electronic Medical Records program; develop working knowledge to monitor immunization compliance; develop working knowledge and ability to assist with patient care surveys, time studies, patient flow studies, and CHC policy and procedure development; and develop working knowledge of each medical reception positions and to cover these positions.

  • Demonstrated skill in standard office practices, front desk operations, welcoming patients, directing calls, message taking, scheduling, data entry, filing and organization, sorting mail, shipping.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to work with diverse group of individuals and to establish and maintain good working relationships; demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, initiative, judgment, independent thought and action, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated skills in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet, and email software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) with the ability to learn other software.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment including copiers, fax machine, ten-key adding machine, multi-line phone system
  • Organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to complete tasks accurately in a busy team environment while providing attention to detail
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods, walk moderate distances, lift heavy objects on occasion, reach, and bend which requires mobility and physical demands.
  • Ability to perform repetitive keyboarding, stapling, filing and file retrieval, opening of envelopes, and scanning which requires mobility and physical demands.
  • High School diploma and two (2) years (put experience) experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronic health records

Work Schedule:                 Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Tuesday through Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year

Salary:                                $11.692/hr Current employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan, and may be different from the posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department .

Probationary Period:        Six months minimum
