The employee serving in this position will provide all the services of a clinical medical physicist as part of a 1-2 year structured training program to develop the resident's skills and knowledge. The residency program director defines the admission and program requirements and is responsible for the overall training program, which will comply with American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs (CAMPEP) standards. As part of this training program, the resident will participate in and complete research projects defined by the program director.

  • Performs all the essential functions of a Clinical Medical Physicist.
  • Meets all of the requirements of a resident as outlined in the AAPM Standards for Accreditation of Graduate Educational Programs in Medical Physics.
  • Completes a major clinical research project.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.


Qualifications
Required
  • Graduate of a CAMPEP Accredited Certificate or Graduate Degree Program in Medical Physics.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care. Incumbents face exposure to radiation and other contaminants on a daily basis as part of their job.
