Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. 

The UNM CDD is seeking an enthusiastic, organized and self-motivated Medical Education Program Assistant 1. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the psychology training program, which includes psychology fellowship and internship trainees and other cross-discipline educational and clinical initiatives. The individual will report directly to the Director of Psychology Training to support membership requirements of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). Responsibilities include maintenance and tracking of documentation, complex scheduling, and coordination of seminars and meetings including the department’s weekly Interdisciplinary Training Clinic and didactic training series. 

The successful candidate should possess the following qualities: excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, responsive, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, well-organized, value good customer service, and able to maintain complete confidentiality. The ideal candidate must be able to work closely and effectively with a variety of people, be flexible and willing to create new processes and implement novel ideas in a dynamic environment. The Medical Education Program Assistant will facilitate communication with various internal and external constituents including governing bodies, faculty, recruits and trainees. The position requires expertise with multiple MS Office programs, knowledge of purchasing, as well as experience with developing promotional or educational materials. 

The CDD is a large, multi-division department within the UNM School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. We provide excellent, innovative interdisciplinary training to trainees at all levels and disciplines, with formal educational program in the field of psychology. The CDD provides leadership opportunities, clinical services, training, research initiatives and support to all New Mexicans in the area of disability.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with

  • program coordination, planning and scheduling techniques;
  • creating program materials and reports;
  • personal computers and related software applications;   
  • working as part of a team with diverse ethnic groups and people with disabilities;
  • working in a university setting, preferably UNM.

Skilled in written and verbal communication.

Spanish speaker.
